‘THE COMEDY OF ERRORS’
People are more than they seem! A whirlwind of chaos unfolds as two sets of twins create endless confusion!
“Through the power of theater, FREEDOM THEATRE seeks to break down, dissolve, shatter, shift, transcend, or pierce through the invisible walls that separate ‘with’ and ‘without’ when it comes to disabilities in people’s hearts. This year, we’re taking on one of Shakespeare’s comedies. Is Shakespeare difficult? Not at all! It’s a slapstick comedy! Amid all the earnest chaos, we invite you to enjoy the unique personalities and vibrant energy of the performers.”
Synopsis
Separated by an unfortunate shipwreck, twin brothers (both named Antipholus) and their twin servants (both named Dromio) are unknowingly reunited in a bustling port city famous for its magic. The younger Antipholus, a newcomer to the city, is shocked to be treated like nobility, while the elder Antipholus, a respected resident of the city, grows furious at the sudden cold treatment from those around him. Meanwhile, the hapless Dromios shuttle back and forth between the two, constantly following hilariously mistaken orders… chaos ensues!

What is FREEDOM THEATRE ?
FREEDOM THEATRE is a project launched in August 2013 under the production of Bird Theatre. It brings together people with and without disabilities to create theater, aiming to discover and share the rich and diverse charms of each individual, often hidden in daily life, with the audience. In 2014, the group performed Three Sisters (originally by Chekhov) at the 14th National Arts and Culture Festival for People with Disabilities in Tottori. Since then, they have held annual performances across Japan and beyond. In 2017, they performed in France, and in 2018, in Thailand. In the 2022 fiscal year, they collaborated with Theatre Breaking Through Barriers, a U.S.-based theater company for artists with disabilities, and the Korea National University of Arts.
