Story: A room in an urban hospital. A young wife, Aoi, has fallen ill from an unknown cause, and her husband, Hikaru, returns urgently from a business trip. According to a nurse, the hospital deals with all kinds of mental illnesses by using sleep therapy to relieve the patient’s sexual complexes. Hikari’s former older lover, Yasuko Rokujo, visits soundlessly.
Sotoba Komachi
Running Time: 50 minutes
Story: An urban park at night. A beggar-like old woman and a young poet meet. The poet writes romantic poems about young couples who gather in the park at night. The poet takes an interest in the old woman. The two debate about love, life, and death, and eventually, the old woman leads them back to the Rokumei Hall in the Meiji era, where they become Captain Fukakusa, a beautiful man, and Komachi, a beautiful woman.
