Aims of Holding the Theatre Festival This Year
The "BIRD" Theatre Festival is now in its 16th year. The last three times were at the mercy of COVID-19, so this is the first time in a long time that the festival has been held as a full-scale event. You can enjoy theatre performances, workshops and exhibitions from morning to evening, including overseas performances, while being connected to the beautiful small castle town of Shikano, where you can also enjoy eating and shopping. You will experience relaxation, fun, extraordinary depth and interaction with all kinds of people, all these four in harmony.
Message from the Artistic Drector
The theme is 'Mingle'. Situations like keeping a distance from the person in front of or next to you, or having transparent acrylic partitions in between, were inevitable to protect your body. Still, they cast various shadows on your heart and mind. After all, human beings live in connection with other people, influencing each other in multiple ways. And that is where the core joy of human beings resides, and theatre is linked to this joy. This is a theatre festival where it is not 'like attracts like' but where it is 'unlike become pals'.
