BIRD Theatre Company TOTTORI [from Tottori, Japan]

This is a performance that takes you on a tour around the town, based on the lives of older people in Shikano, where the theatre is located. You will feel like you are travelling through time while you enjoy the performance, walking around the town.

This year, we look back on the life of a woman who is now 95 years old and lives in Shikano town, with plenty of fiction. By focusing on the life of the older people, the war and economic growth of the Showa period naturally comes to the fore. You may think: “Oh no, not again.” However, it is sometimes important to reflect on the thoughts of those who lived in the past in order to build the present, instead of simply reminiscing about the good Showa period or dismissing it as a story from a different time.
