Nicholas Viselli

Artistic Director of Theater Breaking Through Barriers, New York City’s only Off-Broadway theatre company dedicated to advancing the work of performers, writers, directors and designers with disabilities.
As an actor, director, sound designer, administrator and core company member since 1997, Mr. Viselli has acted in more than 24 TBTB productions and has produced and coordinated several of TBTB’s international tours, including their visits to Japan and Croatia as well and producing original work for the United Nations, both in New York and Geneva, Switzerland.
He studied at the Royal National Theatre of Great Britain and is a graduate of Hofstra University in New York.

UCHINO Tadashi

Performance studies. Born in Kyoto in 1957. He received his MA in American Literature from the Graduate School of Humanities, University of Tokyo, and his Ph.D. in Performance Studies in 2001.
After serving as a professor at the University of Tokyo (Culture and Representation Course), he has been a professor at Gakushuin Women's College since April 2017. His publications include The Melodramatic Revenge (Keiso Shobo), From Melodrama to Performance (University of Tokyo Press), and The Location of J Theatre (University of Tokyo Press). 

NAKASHIMA Makoto

Director. Born in 1966. He founded BIRD Theatre Company in 2006. He aims to demonstrate to society the inherent power of theatre, a cultural device with a history of more than two thousand years, and to promote wider recognition of the profound value of theatrical art and theatres. He was awarded Best Director at the Toga Directors' Competition in 2003; received the New Face Award from the Ministry of Education in 2010. Representative of BeSeTo Theater Festival Japan Committee.
