About the programme開く

Last year, BIRD Theatre Company conducted the 'Playwriting Competition Open to Everyone', a project commissioned by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, in which short plays of around 10 minutes in length were submitted from all over the country, with the entry requirement that the play had to be written by or about a person with a disability. This was the first time the event was attempted, but the response was overwhelming, with over two hundred submissions. The six plays selected through a rigorous selection process will be performed by actors from BIRD Theatre Company in a staged reading. We will come to see different sceneries through the perspective of disability.
