Flora Basthier
She is a transdisciplinary artist from Limoges (France). Her plastic work revolves around the notion of movement, and she tries to transcribe matter in motion, in a sort of fugitive aesthetic. She use to question the process of trace with drawing as action mainfield, but many of her productions call upon different mediums like audio-visual, performance, ceramics, installation, urban intervention and land art... which sometimes mix them up. Experience is the basis of her work where the social and interactive dimensions are recurrent.
She question the inscription of the human print on his environment and how traces become language. There is this relationship to the body in the passage through the territory but also through the matter and the exchanges between different cultures give her material to create. Driven by the desire to travel, moving to different places contributes to feed her plastic practice which she wish inscribe in a form of nomadism. She have a great interest in asian philosophy and she try to learn more about japanese culture that feeds her imagination, especially Shodo.
