The "BIRD" Theatre Festival
Since 2008, this international theatre festival has been held annually. Centred around BIRD Theatre in Shikano Town, Tottori City, it extends throughout the historic castle town, with temporary theatres also set up in nearby areas. The festival features a diverse range of performances – not only outstanding contemporary theatre from Japan and overseas, but also circus, dance, puppet theatre, works involving people with disabilities, and productions that families can enjoy together. With cafés and shops enhancing the experience, the festival offers a rich celebration of the performing arts, inviting visitors to enjoy the depth and charm of the stage while discovering a variety of fresh encounters. It has become a much-loved event for many.
Host:BIRD Theatre Management Committee
The committee was established in April 2010. It aims to promote culture and the arts in Tottori Prefecture, to highlight the region’s appeal, and to foster creativity among its residents. This is achieved by providing advice on the implementation and overall management of projects such as the theatre festival held at the BIRD Theatre – a venue with its own resident theatre company.
